2021 Big Board: Top 35

Slowly but surely my big board is coming together. My early top 25 is pretty much entirely shaken up. I added a few more projected “starters” and a lot more depth guys. If a player you had in mind isn’t on here, it means I haven’t watched anything more than a 10 minute highlight reel. These are all guys I’ve watched play actual games, and thus I’m familiar with their games.

I moved Jalen Green up to the 2 slot over Mobley. I’m betting on shot making and athleticism here. He reminds me of Zach Lavine but also a lankier Ant Edwards. His footwork and overall skill is more polished than Anthony Edwards currently, even with Ant having a year in the league under his belt. I think he’s a better decision maker and play maker than Edwards, too. Green’s ceiling is undeniable and I have to respect that.

Miles McBride has skyrocketed my list, as you can see. I watched him a lot in college and never really saw the NBA spark I usually like to see. However, after taking a much more in-depth look at his game, I can see it now. His measurables are exceptional, he has a great feel for the game, and his shot making ability is undeniable. McBride can be a starting point guard in the league. His defense will translate immediately, as will his playmaking. If he can become just an average NBA finisher, he will have a long and successful career. His 80% from the line and 40% from three get me excited for his scoring and efficiency upside as well. Just writing this has me thinking maybe I should bump him higher now.

Mamu is a bit high, admittedly. But his combine numbers are coming in this week and I’m biting the bait. He moves like a guard at legit 6’11” size. I can’t help but see his potential as not only an offensive playmaker, but also as a defender; an ability to defend guards is there. The Bucks got abused on high screen and rolls in Game 1 last night due to Brook Lopez’ inability to move laterally. As a small-ball 5, Mamu has as good of a shot at containing these actions than any other big in the NBA (not an exaggeration).
